Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing: 4 recommended spots
Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing of a different kind today. I am going to look at the best places to get a good view of the of the city and the skyline, including places to stop for coffee, a drink, or just for the view itself. Some interesting hints for wonderful view of your Ho Chi Minh city tour.
Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing from a great height
The first on the list and the highest place for Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing is the Saigon Skydeck.
- Saigon Skydeck, Bitexco Financial Tower, Ho Tung Mau, 9.30 – 21.00, Entry 200,000 vnd
Saigon Skydeck resides on the 49th floor of the Bitexco tower (Saigon’s tallest and Vietnams 2nd tallest building) and affords awesome 360 degree views of the city. For Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing – it does what it says on the tin. Here’s a tip if you don’t want to pay 200,000 vnd each to look out of the window. You can try Eon 51 bar on the 52nd floor – drinks start at 90,000 vnd. Your best view for Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing doesn’t have to cost a penny though. Not a bad idea to save money on your Ho Chi Minh city tour.
- Air 360 Sky Bar
Rooftop 22nd – 23rd, Ben Thanh Tower, 136-138 Le Thi Hong Gam, District 1, HCMC
From one extreme to the other here in Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing, while you get a free view from the bridge, this place will cost you a little bit more. How about the Dom Perignon package – one bottle plus a fruit platter for $370. That might be quite cheap for Dom – I wouldn’t know – I usually drink Blue Nun or White Lightning. However, do not fret Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing buffs, there is a happy hour from 5 – 9 pm with standard drinks priced at 69,000 vnd (around $2.30). Needless to say the view is very good.
Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing: Don’t need to get high
- Cau Thu Thiem, District 2, HCMC
An odd choice for Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing perhaps, as in essence it’s just a bridge. However half way along, as the bridge reaches its apex, there is a spot that offers beautiful views of the city, especially around 5pm as the sun begins to set and bathes the city in red / orange glow. It does not cost a penny of your budget for Ho Chi Minh city tour to have good view.
- Cay Bang, Vo Van Kiet, District 2, HCMC
Back to the free(ish) Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing. This place is directly across the Saigon river from the hustle and bustle of D1. Its unbelievably quiet in the daytime considering it’s just a couple of hundred metres away from the heart of downtown. From around 5pm onwards vendors gather to sell drinks and snack to young people who come here courting (ask your parents). You can buy a coffee, juice or beer and sit and watch the boats and the sun go down with the city as the backdrop. Incidentally – this particular Ho Chi Minh sightseeing viewpoint may not be here for too long – the whole area is in the process of being developed for high rise office buildings and residential blocks. So take the chance in your Ho Chi Minh City tour while we can to enjoy the breath-taking free view there.
Soo there we go the best views for Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing. There are literally no hills in Saigon so now views to look down from in nature, but the buildings and bridges offer some great vistas.
